Our students today have access to so much information that they run into the problem of discerning what is valid, reliable data and what can be dismissed. We need to model not only how to find good, solid information, but also what to do with that information. Incorporating the use of the Internet into our everyday classroom lessons demonstrates different types of strategies to collect, analyze, arrange and present information that makes connections to our lives. Whether students are using Educreations to create recorded lessons, Google Slides to create presentations or Google Sites to create interactive displays, online digital tools help our students reach the highest levels of critical thinking skills.
I love to use Educreations, which is a way I can really see how students are understanding what they are learning. My first grade class was studying about the water cycle, and students were to create a lesson depicting the three components of evaporation, precipitation, and condensation. Even small first grade students can be very creative and inventive in the creation of their lesson. I have included a link to one of my student's finished product, and although it is a short video, I think it speaks volumes on what she learned.

The use of online tools is increasing everyday, as individuals are discovering how easy and powerful they are. Allowing our students to communicate and collaborate with others, will lead to critical thinking and creating unique artifacts. Our students have the world at their fingertips, and we need to show them a positive and academic way of using them for learning.
