Be The Positive Dog!

Every choice that we make affects our day, and eventually, our future.  If you haven’t read The Positive Dog: A Story About the Power of Positivity, you really need to.  This beautiful story, by Jon Gordon, is told from the point of view of two dogs who see the world very differently.  The way we choose to see the world affects every part of our life, and the lives of those around us. 

Over the past couple of months, our district had rolled out over 10,000 devices to our students.  This, in itself, is an amazing feat, but the new challenge we face is how we will change as educators.  We can either choose to embrace our future with a positive spirit, or avoid what is coming with a sense of doom.  The way we view this rollout can make all the difference in the world to our teachers and students, so we must choose wisely.

This is an exciting time in our district!  We are seeing a shift to the digital age like we have never seen before, and each day brings a new adventure.  Yes, there is a lot to do, yes, time seems to slip through our fingers like sand, but we need to sit back, smile, and realize that we are all blessed to be a part of such a wonderful district and initiative!  We GET TO work with new, state of the art devices that are engaging our students, and helping our teachers to grow as educators.  We GET TO offer a helping hand to those who may need extra support to find their way through this shift in the teaching culture.  We GET TO give our students the best education available, that will supply them with college and career-ready skills and set them on a successful path for the future.  We GET TO work for Ysleta, only the best district in El Paso, and those individuals who work for other districts wish that they could work for Ysleta too.   Let’s all be the positive dog that I know lives within all of us! #YISDproud #engagemeyisd
