Great Google™ Chrome Extensions for Google™ Classroom, Drive and Images!

There are SO many great extensions in the Google™ Web Store these days, and filtering through them all can be an all day chore.  I have found a few extensions that are GREAT for teachers and students that will enhance the digital classroom experience for everyone!

Alice Keeler, who is a well-known Google™ guru, and real-world educator, has created some of the best extensions that all teachers and students should add to their Chrome browser.  The following extensions are a great asset for all teachers and students.

Classroom Split

Classroom Split is a great tool for students to use, especially when they need access to instructions for specific assignments as they are completing them in or out of the classroom.  Once the extension is added to Chrome, and students are logged into Google™ Classroom, they can simply click on the icon. Their screen will then split into two parts, with the one on the right side accessing what work needs to be completed for Google™ Classroom.

Now, students can read directions while accessing and completing assignments at the same time.  This extension will help students to complete their classwork faster and with much more accuracy, making more time for learning!

Side by Side

This wonderful extension is another screen splitter, but for an entirely different purpose.  If you have provided links within your Google™ Classroom, you know that once students click on that link that they are taken out of the classroom.  This can be a problem, if you have several links and assignments that go together.  Using the Side by Side extension, students right click on the link that they wish to open, and the extension splits the screen and opens the link on the right side.  The link can be to documents, websites, videos, etc.

Students can be directed to a particular link without having to leave Google™ Classroom.  Teachers can use this extension too, opening up their digital grade book while still remaining within their Google™ Classroom.

Anyone With a Link Can View

It really is amazing how many times we have to share out some type of file from our Google™ Drive.  This extension takes the extra steps out of making a file available to anyone with a link.  When you are in a Google™ Doc, Slide, Form or Sheet, the icon will appear in the top right corner of the Chrome browser.  Click on the icon, and...amazing!  Now the file's sharing permissions have been adjusted to Anyone with a link can view.

Nimbus

Nimbus is really valuable tool to help teachers and students create edited and customized screenshots.  You have the ability to choose what portion of the screen you would like to capture, annotate, blur, add color, etc.  This FREE extension is really powerful!
